Exclusive offer from Mercedes-Benz Classic: “Gullwing works drives” at 1000 Miglia 2024

From Mercedes-Benz Press Release

There could hardly be a more intense way of experiencing the fascination of the thousand miles from Brescia to Rome and back: Mercedes-Benz Classic offers exclusive starting positions at the 1000 Miglia 2024 to enthusiasts of the brand and of historic motorsport. Not in a support vehicle, but at the wheel of an original Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé from the Mercedes-Benz Classic vehicle collection. Three vehicles are available. The limited offer comprises participation in the event as part of the Mercedes-Benz works team with a company-owned 300 SL (W 198), including a test drive weekend in Stuttgart, a racing driver as navigator in the passenger seat and comprehensive technical and organisational support. The price – depending on the precise configuration of the package – starts at 150,000 euro plus VAT.

Anyone interested can apply here now for one of the three starting places (until 31 January 2024):  https://www.mercedes benz.com/mbclassicexperience1000miglia

Should demand exceed availability, the decision will be made by draw.

Technical support package also for participants with their own Mercedes-Benz classic
Drivers taking part in the 1000 Miglia with their own Mercedes-Benz vehicle have the opportunity to book a service package for technical support from the specialists at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center. The price for this starts at 15,000 euro plus VAT.

Following in the tracks of Sir Stirling Moss and Rudolf Caracciola
First organised in 1927 as a speed race, the 1000 Miglia is now one of the world’s most popular regularity races for historical vehicles. Mercedes-Benz and the Mille Miglia have been closely linked since the very beginning. The brand has made history here time and time again. In 1931, Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes-Benz SSKL (W 06) was the first driver from outside Italy to win the overall classification. In 1955, Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won in the 300 SLR (W 196 S) with the best time ever achieved in the Mille Miglia. Also in 1955, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé production sports cars won a triple class victory in the GT category for cars with a displacement above 1.3 litres.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé (W 198)
The 300 SL with its characteristic gullwing doors is one of the most exciting automobiles in history. It was derived in 1954 from the racing sports car of the same name (W 194) from 1952. This first 300 SL made its racing debut in May 1952 – at the Mille Miglia.
